Ionia County Drain Commissioner

The office of County Drain Comissioner is an elected position and is currently held by John Bush.  Joan Nummer is the Deputy Drain Commissioner and Bruce Mulnix is the Soil Erosion Inspector / Drain Maintenance Supervisor.

The Drain Commissioner's office is responsible for water management which includes all Ionia County drains, inter-county drains and inland lakes and streams. The office has control of the level of inland lakes. Another important function of the Drain Office is the review of all new platted subdivisions, site condos, private roads and all new commercial and industrial sites, checking for adequate drainage so there will not be any surface water problems in the future.

Office hours are Mondy - Friday, 8:30 am - Noon and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
