Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How Do I Request a Police Report ?
A: To request a copy of an Accident report – see; Traffic Reports
To request a police report (other than a traffic crash UD10) a person would need to know one of the following: date, location, names (first and last) of one of the individuals involved. It would also be helpful to know what type of report we’re looking for (i.e.: larceny, B&E, assault, etc.).
The incident must be a “closed report”….either there is no suspect or the perpetrator has been sentenced and the time has elapsed for an appeal. We charge $5.00 for a report plus .25 per additional page. If reprinting of photographs is requested, there is a $1.00 per print reproduction fee. A report does not become ”public record” until all litigation has been completed.
Requests can be made in person at the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, or by mail with prior payment.
