Jim Valentine joined Ionia County Central Dispatch as the Director in January of 2009.  Jim recently retired from the Lowell Police Department with over 34 years of law enforcement experience.  He began his police career with the Lake Odessa Police Department where he served for over eight years as a patrol officer and sergeant.  Jim was hired by the Lowell Police Department where he served 26 years as a patrol Officer, detective, and the last 14 years as Chief of Police.

Jim was appointed by the Michigan Associaiton of Chiefs of Police (MACP) to serve on the CJIS Policy Council which provided administrative oversight of the state LEIN and AFIS computer systems.  Jim served this council for ten years, the last three as chairman.  Jim was in charge of the Lowell Police Department dispatch operation and was the department representative to the Kent County shared records management computer system.  He was also appointed by the city council to represent Lowell on wireless in-car computer project that became a beta test project between the department, Nextel, and Core Technologies.  The successful implementation of this project has been modeled by several local and county agencies throught west Michigan.

Jim holds a bachelor's degree from Siena Heights University.  He has additional management training as a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the FBI National Academy; and the Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institue at Central MI University.

Jim is committed to enhancing every aspects of Ionia County Central Dispatch, and working with all facets of the community to ensure the continued sucess of Ionia County Central Dispatch
