Preparedness Information and Resources
SPECIAL NEEDS REGISTRY
IONIA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Your Ionia County Health Department guards multiple fronts to defend you from any health threat regardless of the source. We make sure the tap water you drink, the restaurant food you eat and the air you breathe are all safe. We are ready to respond to any health emergency - be it bioterrorism, SARS, West Nile Virus or an environmental hazard - and we work constantly to prevent disease outbreaks.
READY.GOV
In order to encourage Americans to prepare themselves, their families and their communities, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, in partnership with The Advertising Council, has sponsored public service advertisements (PSAs) that educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to all kinds of emergencies. The Ready Campaign asks individuals to do three key things to prepare for the unexpected: get an emergency supply kit, make a family emergency plan, and be informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses.
GREATER GRAND RAPIDS RED CROSS
Without the support of our local community, your local American Red Cross would not be here. The American Red Cross is NOT a government agency, nor does this chapter receive any funding from the National Red Cross. We are funded by people just like you, who want to help make our community a safer place to live and work.
AMERICAN RED CROSS
Since 1917, the American Red Cross of Greater Grand
Rapids has been a leader in emergency preparedness and response. Volunteers and paid staff help our community
plan, prepare for, and respond to disasters of all sizes;
from the single family disaster to the flooding that causes hundreds of people to flee from their homes. Regardless
of the size of the disaster, the goal is the same: to meet
the immediate emergency disaster-caused needs of those affected. The American Red Cross is the only
organization that is congressionally mandated to do
this.
