Community Health
The Community Health Division is a vital part of the Ionia County Health Department. The Community Health Divison strives to provide the public with accurate health information and assuring that quality preventative measures take place in Ionia County. This helps the public to make wise decisions about their health and allows them the opportunity to live in the healthiest atmosphere possible. The Community Health Division accomplishes these feats through health education, substance abuse prevention and treatment, public health emergency preparedness, disease tracking and the Medical Examiner.

Ionia County Health Plan
Mission
The mission of the Ionia Health Plan is to create equitable access to health and health care resources in Ionia County.
The Ionia County Health Plan is a community-sponsored program that provides a defined set of health benefits for the uninsured. This program provides a locally organized system for the provision of basic health care services to low-income, uninsured residents who are not eligible for mainstream medical assistance programs. For two years, the Ionia County Health Department worked to enact this program and it is now a reality. The plan covers doctor visits, outpatient labs and x-rays, and certain prescriptions, most of which do require a co-pay. The plan is county based, so it is tailored to Ionia County's needs. Prescription Discount Program
Ionia County residents who do not have prescription (medication) coverage may be eligible for the Ionia County Public Health Prescription Plan. This program is a way for residents, without prescription coverage, obtain prescription drugs at discounted prices from their pharmacy. All prescription drugs are covered. Over-the-counter drugs and experimental medications are not covered.
