COURT
CLOSING DUE TO WEATHER EMERGENCY
The Ionia County Probate Court, in unison with the Ionia County Circuit Court,
has adopted an administrative order that specifies when the court is to
be closed due to weather emergency. The courthouse and all offices therein
my be closed by directive of the designated county official or the court
itself may be declared closed by the probate judge due to weather conditions.
Closings may occur in the early morning before any staff report or during
the day after court sessions have begun.
If the courthouse facility closes by declaration of the county official, public
notice that the courthouse is closed for the entire day or a specified
period of time will be given over radio and television stations serving
the county. If the court only is closed, notice that the court only is
closed will be given in the same manner. Also in the latter situation,
the court's telephone message will state information pertaining to the
court's closing.
If the court is closed in the morning when a jurors are scheduled to report,
the trial will be adjourned to a new date and jurors are not to report
when the court is so closed. Persons with scheduled hearings or trials
should contact the court the next business day to determine a new court
date.
If the courthouse or court closes due to power outage or any other condition
that results in a scheduled hearing or other court proceeding canceling,
contact the court the next business day to determine a new court date.
